Dr. Gretchen Brewer

Dr. Gretchen Brewer, originally from the Pittsburgh area, graduated with honors from Washington & Jefferson College in 1995. She received a B.S. and Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry and graduated in 1999. After completing school, she started her career in the Washington, D.C. area but returned to Philadelphia where she has been practicing for the last 15 years.

Dr. Brewer is therapeutically trained and is certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease. She also fits contact lenses and works with specialty lenses such as rigid gas permeables, bifocals and astigmatism lenses.

Dr. Brewer also works with patients of all ages and participates in the Infant See Program. She is currently a member of the PCOS, AOA, POA, and Alldocs organizations. Dr. Brewer has also been an active participant in the Gift of Sight program and been on two international missions. Dr. Brewer currently resides in Abington, Pa. with her husband and children.

Dr. Kathryn Hopper

Northeast Philadelphia & North Wales Eye DoctorsKathryn Hopper, O.D. is an optometrist at Brewer Eye Associates, where she provides vision care at our Philadelphia location (Grant at One 9475 Roosevelt Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19114). She is originally from Newburgh, New York. She graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The State University of New York College at Plattsburgh. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University.

Dr. Hopper is therapeutically trained and is certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease. She also prescribes glasses and fits contact lenses to correct all combinations of refractive error. She is currently a member of the American Optometric Association and Pennsylvania Optometric Association.

Dr. Hopper currently resides in Glenside, PA and enjoys cooking, crocheting, reading and hiking in her free time.

Dr. Jacqueline Molinda

Northeast Philadelphia & North Wales Eye DoctorsJacqueline Molinda, O.D. is an optometrist at Brewer Eye Associates, where she provides vision care for our Philadelphia and North Wales locations. Dr.Molinda graduated from Pennsylvania State University (Eberly College of Science) with a Bachelor of Science and a minor in Psychology. She then received her Doctorate of Optometry from State University of New York College of Optometry. After Optometry school she did a one-year primary care residency at the Ralph H. Johnson VAMC that focused on the treatment and management of ocular disease, low vision, and specialty contact lens.

Dr. Molinda is therapeutically trained and is certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease. She prescribes glasses and fits contacts. She is also certified in the fitting of Paragon CRT and MiSight Myopia Management specialty contact lenses.

Fun facts about Dr. Molinda:

When she attended Penn State University, she was on the women’s varsity soccer team. Dr. Molinda loves to be active and outdoors as much as possible. She enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, playing golf, and her most favorite of them all, going to the beach.

Dr. Leanne Laporte

Northeast Philadelphia & North Wales Eye DoctorsDr. Leanne Laporte is an optometrist at Brewer Eye Associates providing vision care at our Philadelphia location. She is a Philadelphia native, and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Arcadia University. Immediately following, she attended Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University where she received her Doctorate of Optometry. During her optometric training, she completed a rotation in advanced pediatrics at The Eye Institute and pursued concentrations in binocular vision and specialty contact lenses.

Dr. Laporte is licensed in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of ocular conditions, such as vision problems, eye infections, dry eye, and glaucoma. The detection of cataracts, macular degeneration, and ocular changes due to systemic diseases like diabetes and hypertension is also within her scope of practice.

In her spare time, she enjoys painting, playing tennis, and traveling.

Dr. Shilpi Mehta

Northeast Philadelphia & North Wales Eye DoctorsDr. Shilpi Mehta is a full scope Pennsylvania glaucoma and therapeutics MiSight optometrist and graduate of New England College of Optometry in Boston with over 13 years of clinical experience seeing ages 4 and above. Her clinical experience includes working for Pearlevision franchise and Lenscrafters sublease doctors in the Boston and Philadelphia areas and interned 6 months at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute ( #1 ranked in ophthalmology for 21+ years).

She received a MA in Classical Art and Archaeology from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor and BA in Classics and Ancient History at the University of Texas at Austin.

She lives with her family including 2 very dog-like cats in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Her hobbies include gluten-free cooking, hiking, travel, and yoga.

Dr. Christopher Pentes

Northeast Philadelphia & North Wales Eye DoctorsChristopher Pentes is an optometrist with Brewer Eye Associates, providing vision care in the North Wales location.

Dr. Pentes is from Steubenville, OH, and studied Biology at Miami University of Ohio. He received his Doctorate of Optometry from Salus University Pennsylvania College of Optometry, during which he completed rotations focusing on ocular disease and specialty contact lenses.
During his spare time, Dr. Pentes enjoys skiing, hiking, reading, and video games.
